Villas in Mykonos

Mykonos is part of the Cyclades group of Greek islands and is one of the most popular for tourists. Well known for its club scene in the summer months, Mykonos draws many visitors each year.

The scenery of the island is rocky, with several lovely sandy beaches. The largest town on the island is also called Mykonos and the majority of the population of the island lives here. In the town many lovely Mykonos villas can be found, surrounded by all the facilities a visitor could ask for. The homes and buildings in the town are of the typical Cycladic architecture, clean and white, and many with an attractive, contrasting dark blue trim.

There are many attractions around the island, including the iconic Mykonos windmills. Built back in the 16th century, they were used to mill flour and continued in use until early in the 20th century. Nowadays many have been restored and converted into homes for the locals. Another worthwhile visit is the photogenic “Little Venice,” which consists of traditional fishing houses, lining the waterfront and with balconies overhanging the sea. Many of these have since been converted into quaint cafés, bars and shops, adding to their touristic attraction.

The restaurants and cafés of Mykonos offer a range of traditional local cuisine including the tasty Kopanisti Mykonou cheese and several delicious desserts. While villas in Mykonos are fully self-catering, dining out on the island is a real treat.

Summers are hot and winters are mild on Mykonos and the island bears the nickname, “The island of the winds” due to the Sirocco wind from the south and the cooling Meltemi wind which cools down the heat in July and August. Mykonos experiences 300 sunny days each year and rain only falls between February and March.
