Villas in Rhodes

The Greek Island of Rhodes is found in the eastern Aegean Sea and is the largest in the Dodecanese group of islands. Located northeast of Crete and southeast of Athens, the island is also just off the Anatolian coast of Turkey. As with many of the Greek islands, the capital is also named Rhodes.

The island is one of the most popular European destinations for tourists, offering a mix of historical sites and traditional sandy beaches to visit. One must see is the “Colossus of Rhodes,” which is officially one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the medieval old town of the city of Rhodes has been declared a World Heritage Site. Visitors can find several beautiful Rhodes holiday villas in the city and its surroundings, offering access to all the modern shopping and dining facilities a tourist could wish for.

When wishing to dine out, restaurants across Rhodes Island offer a range of both local and international cuisine, with a preference for fresh, locally produced vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and dairy products. Fish tends to be expensive on the island, but the delicious and popular fast food of Greece, Souvlaki, comes at a reasonable price.

The island of Rhodes has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summer months, and most of the rain falls during the mild to cold winters. Spring, summer, and autumn offer the best temperatures with lower levels of rain making Rhodes perfect for year-round villa holidays.

Rhodes Weather & Climate

Rhodes has a typical Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The main summer season runs from May through to October with temperatures often hitting 30 degrees C in the peak July and August months.

Rainfall normally only hits the island from late October though to April with the summer months generally seeing little to no rain at all making it a popular holiday destination.

If you’re looking for some winter warmth then Rhodes isn’t a bad choice either, with temperatures averaging around 14 degrees in December and peaking around 17 degrees on nicer days.

Getting To Rhodes

You may have spotted one of our villas in Rhodes and decided it is the perfect holiday rental for you but how do you get there? Well the island of Rhodes has one airport called Rhodes International Airport (RHO), it’s alternative name is Diagoras International Airport, and it is served by a number of major airlines from many international destinations.

The airport is located on the north west side of the Island and it is around a 25 minute transfer to Rhodes town and the Faliraki resort, with Lindos and Gennadi taking around 1 hour 30 minutes by road.

If you are island hopping from another Greek island then there is also a large port located in Rhodes town.

Beaches of Rhodes

As you might expect from a Greek Island, there are lots of sandy beaches to visit and explore across the island. Visitors to Rhodes town have easy access to Elli and Ixia beaches, both featuring sunbeds, umbrellas, and a range of bars and restaurants.

Faliraki beach is also accessible from Rhodes town via public transport or card and this offers the same amenities along with some water sports activities for the more adventurous. Faliraki beach is one of Rhodes many blue flag beaches.

For people staying in holiday villas near Lindos then you have two main options on your doorstep, St Paul’s Bay and Lindos beach, both offer a sandy beach and cater to families and couples looking for a more relaxed pace.

If you have access to a car then many other beaches become accessible to you, Rhodes has well over 40 recognised beaches to visit along its coast.

Rhodes Waterpark

Attracting both thrill seekers and families, Water-Park Faliraki is a fun day out for all and should be high on your list of things to do in Rhodes. Featuring a range of attractions from wave pools and lazy rivers, through to the more extreme Kamikaze and free fall slides, there is also a large kids area for smaller guests.

The water park usually opens for the season in early May and runs right through to late October. It is located just outside of the Faliraki resort which is accessible by car or public transport easily from anywhere on the island. See more details on their website: Water-Park Faliraki

Historic Rhodes

For those looking to explore the ancient culture and history of Greece then the village of Lindos is a must visit spot on the Island. Lindos itself is a beautiful area full of small white houses, ancient ruins, statues, and it has the Acropolis overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Rhodes Town itself has the remains of the Colossus of Rhodes, a once giant statue overlooking the harbour entrance, along with many historical sites related to the Knights of Rhodes occupation in the middle ages, making it a great base to explore Rhodes from.
